Managing the Sun OS became easier with Solaris 10 compared to its predecessors. Before I could achieve competence in all the good it had to offer such as dtrace, zfs, zones etc, I drifted into storage administration. Ditto with Linux (Redhet/Suse) and Veritas Volume Manager (VXVM) and Veritas Cluster Server (VCS). Last time I was in a proper unix administrator job was in early 2008ish. I am sure a lot would have changed for better since I left my Unix SA days. The links below are from those old days and those with more experience might find them elementary.
